Good evening pals !!
It’s the day before the big trek and we’re all super excited to see what the next five days have in store for us. Everyone we’ve spoken to about the trek has wished us luck in a ‘you’ll need it’ kinda way- so we’re expecting it to be quite strenuous, but thankfully we knew that when we signed up. So we are doing the 5 day Salkantay trek, a high altitude mountainous route to Machu Picchu. I first heard about this trek after my brother Ryan did it when he was travelling South America, and I knew it was something I’d love to complete. So we’ve loaded ourselves up with energy-filled snacks, plenty of water and a can do attitude and we’re ready to hit the peaks.
We will be old school camping in chilly temperatures, no showers (stocked up on fem’fresh wipes dw) and only the wildlife around us for company.
I’m planning to fully emmerse myself in the nature of it all so I won’t be on le Internet (not that O2 has service in the Peruvian Andes anyway) until Friday… eeeeek!
Wish me luck
